Game for Life – Practical

Specially designed to help sport educators and coaches inculcate values in a clear and comprehensive way, Sport Singapore’s Game-for-Life (GFL) toolkit presents sporting pursuits as opportunities for character development and learning valuable life lessons. The Game for Life practical workshop will equip participants with a deeper understanding of the necessary components required to intentionally design sporting activities that integrates the teaching of skills and values seamlessly. The GFL approach is part of the Values and Principles in Sport (VPS) course created by SportSG and MOE. The GFL toolkit is also recognised by the International Olympic Council as a Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP).

Programme Outline

Self-Paced E-Learning (2 Hours)

  • Principles and concepts of the Game-for-Life (GFL) framework
  • Performance, Social & Moral Values
  • Suitable Development platforms
  • Actions required by the coach (Check-Act-Reinforce)
  • Sample Session Plans using the GFL framework
  • Game for Life Video Series

Practical Session (4 Hours)

  • Practical Demonstration of Values-based training session
  • Recap on Principles and concepts of the GFL Framework
  • Group Activity Using the GFL framework to design training plans
  • Group based micro-coaching for conducting a values-based sporting activity

*Participants will be provided with the hardcopy GFL toolkit during the workshop

Post-Session Assignment (2 Hours)

  • Lesson Plan Submission based on GFL Framework within 1 week of the GFL course
  • Feedback & Review of Lesson Plan by Trainer over online learning portal
  • E-certificate will be issued upon clearance of session plans and completion of e-learning

Entry Requirements / Pre-requisite

This workshop is suitable for sports coaches, PE teacher and educators with a keen interest on using sport as a platform for character development.

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with formal assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

Joint certificate of achievement participation will be issued by CoachSG and RP

NROC coaches, PE teacher, outdoor instructors, corporate trainers, anyone active in teaching values through sport and games.
